BRIAN GRIESE
PROFILE: The Bears probably have the best backup QB in the league. A player who's started many games, Griese is an effective passer with a great QB rating. His intelligent, methodical approach to the game gives the Bears the best quarterback lineup in quite a while. And he's also the biggest challenge to incumbent Rex Grossman. In sporadic play last season, he merely looked average, though.
2007 OUTLOOK: Just to keep the status quo again, the Bears will start Grossman this year. But if Rex can't do much within the first quarter of the season, I can see Griese getting the starting job and holding it until the end.
